Hosiery Designs...

During my final year at University, I have been working as a freelance designer for Madison Hosiery, designing hosiery for various stores that include Topshop, Monsoon and Miss Selfridge. Here are some of my designs, along with a sample for Topshop.

Outfits Complete.

Above are my two final outfits that I have designed, pattern cut and constructed myself, inspired by honeycomb. My illustrations show the collection of 24 outfits, with most of the patterns being hexagon shaped, but due to the draping qualities of the fabrics used, this isn't obvious. Fabrics include 100% silk satinised chiffon, 100% silk satin and 100% boiled wool. Due to the innovative garments and high quality fabrics, prices range from £200- £1500.

Final Collection: Progress

Above: Progress of boiled wool coat for my final collection.

The coat is almost finished (still needs buttons and top-stitching/facing finishing). The panels are all hexagons, with welt pockets in the side panels (along with flaps). Large brown buttons will be added down the centre front in order to finish it off. The seams are all on the outside, as a design feature (as they do not fray). This adds structure to the coat.

Illustrating a book cover...

Recently, I was asked to illustrate a book cover by the author Marilyn Boardman. The novel is based in the Yorkshire market town of Wetherby, and is part of 'The Crumbs Mysteries'. I was told what was wanted on the cover, and then produced the cover using Illustrator, and we are both very happy with the result!
